'Hibiki' (ヒビキ Hibiki?) is the main protagonist of Bubble (Movie).
He has been diagnosed with a hypersensitive auditory function since he was a child, and does not like to communicate with others very much. While journeying up the Tokyo Tower, he falls into the sea and comes into contact with Uta.
History[]
As a child, Hibiki was diagnosed with a hypersensitive hearing sensitivity which makes it difficult to deal with everyday sounds. As a result, he became rather withdrawn and barely communicated or connected with anyone besides Uta and who is assumed to be his mother.
When he was a second-year middle school student he visited Tokyo Tower. He witnesses an unusual phenomenon, The Falling of the Bubbles. While peering out the window, he begins to hear a song, something that doesn't attack his hearing sensitivity, and is drawn to the sound. This event triggers his and Uta's first interaction with each other, ultimately angering the bubbles as a whole. Though an accident, the bubbles attack Tokyo Tower, and the tower collapses. The explosion results in all the bubbles concentrating in Tokyo. Having been one of the survivors of the Tower's explosion, Hibiki is left alone.
Journeying into the forbidden area surrounding Tokyo Tower, he stays there with the Blue Blazers; having been invited to the team, and continues to help them win championships and games which gives them sustenance.
Five years later, while again hearing the song that a woman sings, he journeys up Tokyo Tower, and almost reaches the top, believing to see a presence there, but falls. He falls into the ocean, suffers a head injury, and his final exhale is seen. But his final breath combines with some of the bubbles,a which results in the creation of Uta.
Being rescued, he returns with Uta to the Blue Blazers and introduces her as the person who saved his life. Almost instantly, Uta and Hibiki connect, and participate in parkour together. Slowly but surely, Hibiki begins to acknowledge that he has gained feelings for Uta, and she as well.
But their interactions cause the Bubbles to be angry again, and blame Hibiki for the mess. While the gravitational field around Tokyo Tower slowly begins to fade, Tokyo Tower is about to fall into a pit, similar to a black hole.
Hibiki and Uta journey up to the tower amidst falling debris, and manage to make it to the top. At the tower, Hibiki comes to the realization that Uta and he were the ones to cause the Falling. Understanding. but not compliant, he tries to prevent Uta from returning back to the bubbles, and is knocked unconscious by falling debris. Again, he is saved by Uta, but by touching him, she begins to turn faster into bubbles, Reenacting The Little Mermaid, she tells him that he made it worth being human, and then fades away.
Heartbroken, Hibiki cries out for her, but slowly comes to the realization that she is never truly gone. The bubbles begin to fade away, and Hibiki returns back home with the rest of the Blue Blazers. His heart still remains in parkour, and he continues doing it as a hobby, while being followed around by a bubble which is presumably Uta.
Appearance[]
Hibiki's appearance
Hibiki is an eighteen-year-old man with raven black hair and hazel eyes. Throughout the movie, he is shown to be sporting a blue hoodie with black shorts. Personality[]
Due to his enhanced hearing and lack of a childhood, Hibiki doesn't have much experience with communicating with others. He lacks basic social skills and aside from his interactions with Uta, he hasn't connected with any of the members on the team. Even from a young age, Hibiki seems withdrawn from the rest of the world, though he has a heart of gold. He has proved that he does care for his teammates, and is willing to rescue others and put them above himself.
With Uta, he seems more carefree, and willing to enjoy the experience of thrill. Through Uta, he learns that it is okay to be vulnerable sometimes; and slowly becomes more open throughout the movie.
