Bubble Wiki

Uta is the deuteragonist of the movie, Bubble.

After coming into contact with Hibiki. Uta is drawn to him and is transformed into a human, and participates in parkour with the Blue Blazers.

History[]

Uta came to Earth with her sisters, or the Bubbles, and accidentally caused the Falling, which resulted in an explosion at Tokyo Tower. While singing a song, she comes into contact with a boy, and this angers her sisters, who attack Tokyo. The explosion kills Hibiki's mother, leaving him adopted. As the bubbles begin to settle around Tokyo Tower, Uta is separated from Hibiki.

Uta waits silently, but explores the area surrounding Tokyo Tower. When Hibiki returns, she follows him, protecting him sometimes without him knowing, and watches him in awe during parkour tournaments.

When the song begins to call Hibiki again, Uta follows him as he begins to scale the Tower, desperate to find the source of the voice. When Hibiki falls, she dives in after him, only to look in horror as he takes his final exhale. Summoning her strength and rushing forward, combined with Hibki's final breath, she transforms into a human, and rescues Hibiki. In surprise at her own transformation, she touches Hibiki, but her finger begins to disintegrate in bubbles.

Hibiki takes her back to the Blue Blazers' ship, and introduces her. Overcome with curiosity, she excitedly begins to explore, and adopts the behaviorisms of a cat, much to the confusion and suspicion of the other members. Nonetheless, she is eventually welcomed in, and bonds with Makoto, a female doctor studying the Bubble Phenomenon.

While training, Hibiki and Uta bond over a flower garden, and the recognizaton of her song, and the two engage in parkour. As she bonds with Makoto, the latter teaches her to read such as the story of "The Little Mermaid" at night and shares the mattress with her.

When the Blue Blazers receive a threat/invitation in Makoto's kidnapping a parkour tournament from the "Undertakers," the team brings her in, having been told of her abilities, and they manage to gain the upper hand in the midst of the tournament. In their victory, Uta touches Hibiki's arm, only to have it disintegrate into bubbles, much to his horror.

The bubbles begin to stir, realizing that the balance is upset again. As the Tokyo residents begin to flee, Uta begins to climb Tokyo Tower to stop the bubble activity, while Hibiki follows.

Willing to give herself up and sacrifice her relationship with Hibiki, she goes back to the bubbles, who welcome her. Hibiki attempts to stop her, and takes her away, but is hit by falling debris. Going to rescue him, she touches him, and slowly begins to fade away into bubbles. With her final breath, she tells Hibiki he made it worth it to be human, before giving him a kind smile and closing her eyes. In anguish, he cries out for her, but she doesn't reply, only hearing the melody of her song playing gently in the background.

During the end credits, Uta is shown, reincarnated as a bubble, following Hibiki around as he continues parkour.

Appearance[]

Uta

Uta’s appearance

Uta is a fifteen-year-old girl with short, light blue hair, and violet eyes. She wears a glove on her right hand, to hide her true form, and sports a sailor-like uniform crisscrossed between blue and red. She also wears rundown sneakers, which help in giving her parkour support.

Personality[]

Similar to Hibiki, Uta lacks any social skills, but presents herself in a completely different way. Rather than being shut out and withdrawn, Uta is overly friendly and communicative. She inserts herself into people's personal space, purely out of curiosity. However, she has a very strong sense of integrity, and is willing to do what's right, against her better judgment.

Uta is also extraordinarily kind and selfless, and it willing to help others, even if it puts herself in danger, case in point: Hibiki. However, there are some limits, because of her lack of an ability to physically touch someone.

Having been a bubble, but taking on the appearance of a teenage girl, Uta gives off the idea that she is more of a curious child rather than a 16-year-old girl.

Relationships[]

Hibiki: Uta and Hibiki have an unspecified bond. Everything seems to come naturally to them. and are inevitably drawn together. Unbeknownst to Hibiki, they had previously met at Tokyo Tower before its destruction. While singing her song, she is drawn to the Tower by a little boy, later revealed to be Hibiki, and they connect. But this angers her sisters, and attack Tokyo, resulting in a massive explosion with hundreds of deaths, including Hibiki's mother. Similar to the Little Mermaid, Uta is very curious and clueless about interacting with people. It seems as if Uta holds feelings for Hibiki, and vice versa, but neither seem to confirm it.

Makoto: Being the only girls in a crowd of boys, Makoto and Uta also bond very quickly, as Makoto teaches Uta how to read and shows her books. Uta became incesed when Makoto was kidnapped by the UnderTakers and was just as determined as the rest of the Blue Blazers to rescue her. Makoto also inadvertently helps Uta realize that she has feelings for Hibiki and her relatability to the Little Mermaid. After Uta disintegrates into bubbles, Makoto starts to cry and mourns with Hibiki over his loss.
